In the infinitive, the prefix stays attached: aufstehen and einkaufen. In a main-clause statement, the finite verb takes second position and the prefix goes at the end: Ich stehe um sieben Uhr auf. In yes/no questions, the verb comes first and the prefix last: Kaufst du heute ein? After a form such as möchte, keep the infinitive together: Ich möchte heute einkaufen.
